Munstead English Lavender – 9cm Pot

Munstead is a traditional English lavender with lighter purple flowers and bright green foliage. It grows a little taller than Hidcote, and like all English lavenders its summer flowers are popular with bees.

Use Munstead to fill bigger spaces or to give a hedge a little more height. It can be planted in the ground or grown in a pot.

This is a young plant in a 9cm pot, approximately 10–15cm from the base of the rootball to the top of the foliage. It is ready to plant straight into the ground or into a pot, and will grow on towards its final height over the following seasons. A 9cm plant is the most economical way to plant Munstead.

Planting

• Plant in well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil. In heavy soil, mix in grit or sharp sand to improve drainage – lavender thrives in poor, sandy soil.
• Choose a sunny position.
• Water for approximately three weeks until established – a good soak encourages root growth.

Care

• Needs minimal watering once established – do not overwater.
• Prune after flowering. Cut back quite hard, but don't cut into old wood, as this can reduce flowering the following year, and take care not to remove all the green shoots.
• Hardy – can be left in the garden all year round.
